Well, that rain was certainly a unique experience. Eventually we were able to fall asleep in all that noise, and the next morning we woke up in a very invigorated Serengeti. A herd of hippos even went so far as to come out of the river and graze on dry land for a while. Quite a sight! It might be interesting to come back to the Serengeti some time, but go in the wet season instead. Daniel said that there is indeed much to see then, but that the roads get almost hopelessly muddy. That would only be part of the adventure, of course. And Serengeti is an adventure; alright. Where else could you hear someone shout out “SIMBA!!!” just a few tents over as you’re walking across the campsite after dark? Yeah, that little incident made all our hearts skip a beat, Daniel’s included, but it’s another story, to be told elsewhere. After Serengeti, we went on to Ngorongoro, but before you follow us into the crater, you’re welcome to look at the Serengeti species parade.
